High Risk Cancer Clinic

Focused on lifelong cancer prevention and early detection

The experts at the multidisciplinary OhioHealth High-Risk Cancer Clinic can help people with a higher risk of getting cancer create a more personalized cancer risk-reduction and screening plan.

Who is at higher risk for cancer?

There is no single reason a person gets cancer. However, some people have a higher chance of getting cancer due to a combination of certain risk factors.

If you have one or more of these factors, you may have a higher risk of getting cancer than the average person, and the High-Risk Cancer Clinic can help.

What to expect at your High-Risk Cancer Clinic visit

Your first visit to the High-Risk Cancer Clinic will include a comprehensive risk assessment with Bushra Siddiqi, MD, the medical director of OhioHealth’s High-Risk Cancer program.

You will have the option to meet with a genetic counselor for same-day genetic testing and an in-depth risk review. This process is recommended if you have family history, ancestry or inherited cancer risk factors.

You will have the option to meet with a genetic counselor for an in-depth review of your family history and genetic testing options. This process is strongly recommended if you have family history, ancestry or inherited cancer risk factors.

After your evaluation, the team will discuss a personalized cancer risk assessment and management plan with you. This may include more frequent cancer screenings and risk-reducing options like lifestyle changes, medications or surgery. You may also be referred to other specialists for co-management and high-risk procedures.

During your follow-up visits, Dr. Siddiqi and her team will re-assess your cancer risk, screening and management plan to ensure that you’re receiving the most effective care.
