Summer Research Externship Program

Build your knowledge, build your skills

The Summer Research Externship Program prepares medical students entering their second year of training with the knowledge, skills and competencies they need to advance in their medical profession.

About the Program

Under the guidance of faculty members from our OhioHealth teaching hospitals, selected medical students will have exposure to assist on new or in- progress quality improvement and research projects in a clinical environment at their designated location.

Aimee_Lariccia.jpg“My research journey began as a medical student with the SREP focusing on trauma research at Grant Medical Center. This program educated me on the importance of research in progressing patient care and allowed me the opportunity to develop mentorship relationships with physicians who I still work with today. As both a former SREP student and current SREP mentor, this program continues to positively influence my research career.”

From participation in introductory research lectures to preparation with conference presentations and manuscripts, medical students will gain invaluable knowledge that comes only from hands-on learning and mentorship. Upon completion of the program, students will have the opportunity to present their findings at Student Research Day.

Applications accepted from November 28 through January 8.
