Sports Medicine Fellowship - Riverside Methodist Hospital

The Sports Medicine Fellowship at Riverside Methodist Hospital is a one-year ACGME-accredited program that accepts two physicians each year from family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and emergency medicine. As a fellow, you will grow in confidence and competence as you care for patients in a variety of community practice settings, including extensive sideline coverage spanning high school to professional sports teams.

Our fellowship program is designed to bring you up to speed smoothly, while learning from the best minds in the field.
A Well-Rounded Curriculum with Individualized Experiences
Our sports medicine fellows complete four, three-month rotations to provide continuity and diversity in training. You will care for patients in up to 10 practice locations, all equipped with in-office ultrasound, radiology and physical therapy. You will also attend weekly lectures, a journal club and case conferences.
Your personal interests will dictate the direction of your program. You will be given elective time and flexibility to tailor rotations to develop skills in a particular area, such as orthopedics, fracture management and academic medicine. Our fellows also are expected to complete a quality improvement project of their choosing.
A considerable amount of your training will include hands-on care, as a team physician for local high schools, D3 and D1 colleges, professional sports teams and national and Olympic athletes. You will also cover sporting events, like IRONMAN Ohio, Emerald City Half Marathon, Columbus Marathon and national triathlons.
